Sexual Victimization Evaluation

Journal Critique

I recently reviewed a study by J. Livingston, A. Hequembourg, M. Testa, and C. VanZile-Tamsen, published in 2007 the article Unique Aspects of Adolescent Sexual Victimization Experiences in the Psychology of Women Quarterly, 31(4), 331-343. The writers of the above-cited article produced the research to study the susceptibility of adolescent females to unsolicited sexual experience with men and the reasons why those experiences occurred. The researchers began the study postulating from available data that adolescent women are more susceptible to sexual victimization than are mature women. The purpose of their findings was not to prove existing trends, but to categorize reasons that current trends for adolescent victimization among women and use that information to education men and women so that pitfalls for women in that category could be avoided.

Following will be my estimation of that study with perspective.

Scale and Survey Used

The researchers in this study used a few types of instruments to assist in discovering the information needed to begin the study. A telephone survey was conducted to find participants. A computer assisted survey introduced to the women who participated occurred at common facilities for the study to further target specific participants followed by interviews for those who answered questions positively on the scale for unwanted sexual experience—a yes or no question—who qualified for the study.

Women between the ages of 18 to 30 were identified over the phone to participate from various ethnicities in research, a longitudinal women’s study. Seventy-four percent of the women were single. Seventy-six percent identified as Caucasian; 15 % identified as African American or Black; All other groups individually including multi-racial groups individually who participated constituted less than five percent each. “Consistent with local demographics, median income was $40,000, and 91% were high school graduates (compared to 89% of 18- to 34-year-old women in Erie County). Most were employed either full time (46.9%) or part time (31.1%)” (2007, p.333).

The survey procedure the researchers used were based on the telephone survey which invited to participated in the longitudinal study of women who over a three-year period participated at 12-month intervals to provide information for processing. The researchers included in the journal only the data collection implicit to study. Phase one of the study occurred at the Research Institute on Addictions in Buffalo, NY, which consisted of the computer-administered questionnaires. The second part of Phase one information gathering occurred during firsthand interviews to assess personality and social aspects of the participants that lasted approximately two hours for participants in all for both parts. Participants profited by $50 and all interviews were taped and transcribed with informed consent—consent gathered prior to initiation of participation.

The survey sample size for the study, from which 61% of nearly two thousand eligible participants agreed, 38% of the participants responded affirmative to a singular or multiple questions on the Sexual Experience Survey. Of those who were selected, 369 women, most were on average 24 years of age with a difference of about three years form the average.

Nearly 2000 women participated in the research study via the telephone but only 61% of them elected to participate in the survey. Obviously, a finite number of funds and labor existed to complete the study. As mentioned previously out of 2000 women candidates were selected to progress in the study.

As previously mentioned, 61% of surveyed participants willingly participated in the study. Of that 61%, 38% qualified for the study. The participation rate for the study was above 50% for the survey by phone giving the researchers a decent among of women to study. Of the final number of willing participates only 14 women were excluded for technical reason other than response or willingness to respond.

Does the Means Justify the Ends?

The researchers took care through a three-year long process carefully documenting the information over that period to make sure that participants were selected who could contribute to the study. In addition, the team of researchers kept all data from the study thought only included pertinent information for the study relating to discovering victimization data related to adolescent experiences of the over 300 who met the specification of the Sexual Experience Survey. Thirty percent of the participants experience pre-adult victimization or 112 participants. The researchers compared precursors, environment, for both groups that revealed victimization and verified their assumption that youth played a pivotal role in the type of situation an adolescent is likely raped. The Adolescent victims “adolescent girls were more likely than adult women to be victimized by a perpetrator with whom they were less acquainted, such as a stranger, acquaintance, or a friend” (p. 334), while adults, or those victimized 19 and above intimately knew their attackers.

The researchers used information factors such as intimate relationship, party/social gatherings, abusive or authority (parent, teacher, etc.) relationships and parent/guardian supervision to substantiate vulnerability. The adolescents according to the researchers usually were more enticing to predators due to the added fear of reputation and parental knowledge about an authorized rendezvous. Others were intimidated to a lesser degree by the authority of the aggressor or advantage of the aggressor.

“Consistent with lifestyles/routine activities theory” (p. 340) presented in the beginning of the article crediting it as the reason adolescent victimization occurs, the “results of the qualitative analysis revealed that adolescent girls are at risk of sexual victimization when they spend time in unsupervised contexts and engage in risky behavior, such as drinking at a party where there are no supervising adults present” (p. 340); however, not limited alone to that factor.

The researchers did a thorough examination of the participants using tools narrowing a potential large population down to over 300 subjects. The information was gathered over three years and catalogued to present the findings ins such a way as not to support assumptions, but mirror the qualitative data provided by the subjects. The fact that all interactions with subjects in the study were transcribed, recorded and catalogued by consensus revealed the scientific and objective approach to presenting the information.

Now what can be done with the information? This study provides evidence for assumptions that many adults already hold–that young women are targets because of social status. Teenagers like to sneak around and would rather lie about something happening to them than get caught by parents.

My solution to this problem is a strong ethical philosophy or religion practiced at home with clear boundaries and thorough practice and teaching. I can update my personal research on my own teens and see if it works. If I am still hubbing in ten years I can provide the update on how religion helped my daughters–or not.

Cigarette Smokers Can Quit!

A young woman dangles a cigarette from her lips as she coolly exclaims, “I can quit anytime I want!”

She inhales deeply and slowly exhales the smoky mixture from her lungs to continue, “Why, I have done so on numerous occasions.”

Many people have similar views about addictive behaviors and substances—the I-can-quit-anytime-I-want-to’s. The addiction appears to have less value than the particular motivation to continue in the behavior. What incentive towards smoking in particular drives an individual to continue the behavior even though it harms the body—thwarting the natural inclination towards self-preservation? Extrinsic and intrinsic forces play what role in the development and maintenance of the smoking addiction and why?

Chemical dependency or classical conditioning (whether a conscientious choice or compulsion), or both may affect an addicts behavior about his or her addiction depending on the chemical make up of the person’s body and the genetic disposition to succumb to addictions. This article focuses on the function and structures of the brain associated with smoking and the extrinsic and intrinsic factors on the motivation to indulge in smoking behavior–with suggestions of how to overcome the addiction.

“Drugs motivate action by operating on individual neurons in the brain” (Decker, 2005, p. 92). Not only do drugs encourage action using neurons , but the brain itself consist of millions of cells that communicate with each other—transmitting and receiving—using neurons to convey information from one part of the body to another in a vast information superhighway called the central nervous system.

The brain communicates throughout the body as it receives information about the environment outside the body—particularly for warning, protection and such. The neurons themselves communicate with each other phasing electrical information to chemical information called neurotransmitters. The exchanges that occur between the neurons through this type of electrochemical osmosis occur constantly unless some interruption in the process happens.

Smokers experience this chemical interruption when the neurotransmitters functioning in the pleasure-producing sensor of the brain cease to function properly due to some outside interference blocking or replacing the hormonal/chemical actions that cause neurons to receive information (Decker, 2005).

This blockage or replacement can cause high levels of endorphins to accumulate in the brain because the neurons that would normally receive the neurotransmitters can not due to blockage by the alien imposter—leading to an over abundance of endorphins, acetylcholine and dopamine (Meeker-O’Connell, 2008). The proteins and biological chemicals cause an unusually euphoric, stimulating and pleasant response motivating an addict to continue the use of the drug (Meeker-O’Connell).

As mentioned before, particular biochemical processes occur within the brain that motivates the participant to continue in the behaviors. An addict may achieve a particular pleasurable or soothing sensation from partaking of the nicotine drug, but other factors contribute to the continued use of the drug it appears aside from chemical needs.

An individual may decide to smoke because he or she may have heard that cigarettes “calms nerves”. There may be some excitement that exist in the individual’s life that triggers a desire to smoke the cigarette, such as a group of associates who introduce the idea of smoking. Extrinsic factors such as social gatherings, peer pressure and marketing all have roles that contribute to the desire of an individual to smoke. After a person has started smoking, social gatherings, peer pressure and such becomes a retention tool that promotes fraternity.

At one of the Arizona campuses of the University of Phoenix, students and employees can be observed congregating and chatting around coffeemaker and designated smoking areas. Of all these individuals, inference that some participate in the smoking behavior for the camaraderie—because of diverse reasons—has justification based on common knowledge that people desire some type of social interaction.

With this possible point of association involved, some may not necessarily smoke because of chemical dependency, but have the intrinsic reasons for participating in smoking. Smoking for the sheer enjoyment may exist as a possibility after the extrinsic factor of reinforcement of the behavior by some force. It appears that the only way an inner value for smoking cigarettes can occur is if some outside value exists to motivate the habit in the first place.

To change the behaviors of smoking seems to have a different element that allows internal values to motivate a person to cease the habit. It appears that one type of motivation, extrinsic, must exist to form the habit, and another, intrinsic, to cease.

It is rare that smoking begins in a vacuum, but stopping must be a personal choice.

Another incentive for smoking that enables addicts to continue the behavior, though it harms the body and apparently overrides the natural struggle towards self-preservation appears to be habit.

Habit occurs after repeated use of cigarettes for the “wake-up smoke,” the “after breakfast smoke,” the mid-morning smoke,” and so on and so forth. I assisted in the successful completion of a multi-step method to end the behavior associated with cigarette addiction. What I discovered as I administered the program to many individuals is that nicotine addiction goes away after two weeks approximately; but because the body and mind receive conditioning to smoke at certain times of the day and in places of recreation, the subjects in the program still possessed a strong urge to smoke cigarettes.

This desire did not occur because of nicotine. Pavlov’s classic conditioning gives insight to this particular view. Pavlov conditioned dogs to respond to a bell for dinner after presenting food to the dogs every time the bell rang. Similarly, smokers and cigarettes allow not only the nicotine to affect them, but the “bells” as mentioned before, the “wake-up smoke,” and such.

One study suggest that some type of medication to dose smokers could assist smokers cease the habit of smoking and could very well assist in many people not smoking. A group of researchers concluded in their recent study entitled Using Mediational Models to Explore the Nature of Tobacco Motivation and Tobacco Treatment Effects that “those individuals who were randomly assigned to bupropion (pharmaceutical) treatment showed reduced overall withdrawal and craving in the first week post quit and marginally higher levels of positive effect, relative to individuals receiving placebo treatment” (Piper, Federman, McCarthy, Bolt, Smith, and Fiore, 2008, p. 104).

The Addiction is not what is hard to stop, it is the habit.

To Stop

First of all, if you want to do it the natural way it will really be a hard thing to experience. Starting to smoke was not easy and neither will stopping be easy.

First, destroy the cigarettes and write a declaration letter of independence!

This is the hardest part of the steps because you think about the money you put into those packs. Waiting until you smoke them all or giving them away only gives you the psychological incentive to change your mind because you know where the cigarettes are.

Second, get rid of every ashtray and anything associate with smoking. That means, if you drink, while you are doing the steps don’t. If it is associated with a smoke, leave it lone until after the steps. Also, put no smoking signs on your door. If the sign becomes trigger though remove it.

Third, tell your friends and family that you are trying to quit smoking and not to do it round you. This may be hard because many of you friends may be smokers and you might have to choose between your health and a good smoking buddy. If you are serious about stopping though, this is a choice you must make. Also, you are going to be cranky and edgy for a while. Warn your family!

Fourth, go shopping! Purchase cinnamon flavored mouthwash, cinnamon flavored toothpaste, lots of non-sweetened grapefruit juice or grapefruit (or both) and cinnamon flavored sugarless gum.

You will have hard days. when you wake in the morning, mouthwash it. The cinnamon has the effect of curbing the cravings for some reason.

Fifth, after each meal or snack, brush your teeth and rinse your mouth! If even a particle of food is left in your teeth it could fall onto your tongue and trigger an urge to smoke

When the urge comes chew the gum. If that doesn’t work, drink the grapefruit juice or eat a grapefruit. Usually cigarettes do not taste good after grapefruit juice.

Sixth, have a buddy to call for support. Have some body to use a preselected reinforced to remind you of why you are trying to quit such as the declaration of independence.

Seventh, get religion or something close! When all else fails try meditation or prayer for strength. Knowing that something larger than you is there can help you not feel alone in the worst times.

Doing all these things you will stop smoking. If you relapse, start again. Do not harp on failures. These tools are for your success. They are to help you naturally kick the smoking habit. Oh yeah, do all of this for 21 days. After that you will not be addicted to cigarettes or have the habit.

If you put yourself back into the same environment though, it may be hard to stay free.

Democratic National Convention: Reflections 2012

Come Away

Before I began my remarks, I want to identify as a conservative independent. I lean heavily in favor of the Republican party, but cannot come to terms with all of its nuances. I also accept many views of moderate Democrats. I love my president and I honor his office and think that he is a good man.

What I was not impressed with has nothing to do with President Obama significantly, but with how the DNC was conducted. My first point of contention is the speakers–the less important ones. I forced myself to watch the DNC, the entire thing! I did not watch the RNC, only 5 of the speeches, which included Mitt Romney. I did not even watch the Clint Eastwood comedy act. I reserved the time for the sitting president’s party out of respect to see what the rank and file Democrat has to say about America and I only like parts of it.

I had to take a breather and meditated on what I saw before writing this. In comparison to the RNC, the DNC did poorly overall. I came away from the RNC speeches that I heard feeling hopeful and proud to be American. I felt good about my heritage as a pioneer.

I left the DNC feeling robbed and deflated. I am biased I know. I honestly want to believe that the people in leadership represent my values, but I cannot find a single Democrat in leadership that I can identify with and it concerns me. The DNC seemed like a Fourth of July company picnic rather than a convention for a presidential nominee! The people there seemed to be looking for entertainment rather than to support the party.

My next bone is with the speech of Bill Clinton. Yes, it was entertaining but it was not informative and he out right lied on the Republicans and Mitt Romney in parts of it. How do I know? I listened to the speeches! He said that Mitt Romney is going to raise taxes on the middle class. Well, Mitt in his on speech says the opposite and he did so very clearly so that everyone could understand. Bill Clinton did not speak about what Romney promised to do, but what he assumes Republicans will do. That assumption makes me distrust him even more.

Third, why Bill Clinton? I do not honor his opinion as he disgraced my nation. I was overseas when the fiasco about his indiscretion came out. Every foreigner that discovered that I was an American wagged a head of shame at me. I felt ashamed of my country because of the former president. He is a an embarrassment and I would not listen to him because he dishonored himself.

Fourth, it is tradition for the Vice President to speak the night before the presidential nominee. I did not appreciate the change and see it as a slap in Joe Biden’s face. That alone makes me question President Obama and his choices. Biden could very well be the next commander in chief, but he was removed as speaker so that a scandalous person could speak instead!

If I were him, I would call into question the change in program. I would ask “President Obama, you trust me enough to be the next president if something happens to you but not enough to speak in my traditional role?” I suppose he took one for the team.

What I left with from the DNC is that the pinnacle of my existence is to become middle class. Once I have reached that plateau I am done in life. That is not my dream. I don’t just want to be middle class. I want the opportunity to be more than just in the middle. The RNC gave me hope that I could if I put the work in. The DNC made me think that middle class is where it is at!

Clinton made me feel like all I can achieve is the middle and I should be happy with that because that’s what we need, a strong middle class. Rubio made me feel like I can at least help my children do better if anything at all. I felt some hope that my family could achieve financial greatness even if it never happens–I like that hope that it might.

I give the DNC a letter grad of ‘C’ for giving an average convention. I would have given a ‘C-minus’ if it wasn’t for Michelle Obama. Her speech was great. She really impressed me and I could feel the earnestness in her words.

Lastly, President Obama’s speech killed if for me. I have to honestly say that the sound of his voice is starting to make me angry. As much as I love my president, and I do, his voice gets on my nerves. Each time he opens his mouth I feel like I am being lied to about something. I don’t like to admit that, but it is the truth.

I figure I am going through a love-hate thing because I support Romney, but I still support Obama also as the sitting president. I am ready for a change. I gave him my full support after the election and I am not happy with most of what he has done. I like some of the healthcare reform. I like the fact that jobs were created. I do not like how the health reform came to pass and I don’t like the fact that for the last three years he has not taken personal responsibility for his nation’s problems.

He keeps talking about what was handed to him or what he inherited. Okay, thanks for saying that. Now that it is yours, stop talking about what you received and go ahead and take ownership for the love of America! He wants another four years. I want him to own the last four years we gave him!

He should have let Bill Speak for his turn and maybe I would not have been bored to tears. If he wins another four years, I pray that I can be charitable to him and not detest the sound of his voice. I really do love him, because he is doing a job that only a few choice people can do–lead the free world.

I love him for taking the chance and putting himself on display like that. Some times I get upset with the people that I love. In his case though and unlike my family, I can vote whether or not he has supporters in office. I might not be able to vote for him, but I can vote for the people he gets to work with. I see that my heart is already turned against voting for him. If he wins though, I will support him as leader. I may not agree with all of his policies but at least he honors his family relations. Now with that I can identify.

Weakness in Dozens: Afterthought

Two boxes of assorted donuts sat on the living room table. I could not believe my misfortune. Of all the days to have my favorite dessert seductively parading in front of me! My wife and I had just agreed the day before to go on a vegan diet for six weeks for some sort of cleansing. It’s not like I agreed to do it willingly. She buys all of the groceries, so it was either that or get McDonald’s each day of the six-week diet.

I thought about it for a while. I, of late, have been reading those relationship magazines because I want to make the whole marriage thing work. One of them suggested to support your spouse even when the ideas she comes up with seem strange and to be there to pick up the piece if those ideas fail.

I could do that, so I did it. Now I just want a donut. We were at a friends home in Philly. Several of our friends, all couples, came from all over the country just to have a reunion it seems, but It was impromptu. Dana and I happened to be in New York for a Home Schooling conference, so we decided to take the train to Mark and Sonia’s house just to surprise visit. Apparently, four other friends decided to do a surprise visit being in the area for different reasons. I had forgotten how rowdy we all are when we get together.

I was starting to hate the relationship magazines.

We tend to speak about every taboo subject! None of us really agreed on politics or religion though we all shared the same faith. I heard the back and forth as I eyed those donuts. I could feel my mouth watering and my stomach churning. I looked at my wife and then at the donuts. Dana smiled lovingly knowing that I would not break the agreement because she read the same magazine that I read! I hated that I let it out that I wanted to work on the trust and support issues.

I also read in the magazine that in supporting a spouse you should not resent agreements made with full understanding and agreement. I could never resent that smile of hers, and she knew it! I could surely resent the agreement, though.

I was starting to hate the relationship magazines. I will place all my anger toward the diet on the magazines. I think I was tricked into this. I didn’t need a cleanse of my body! I needed a donut! A big fluffy powered donut!

“Chase,” Sonia said snapping me out of my lust for donuts for a second. “You been eyeing those donuts since I put them out. Why you not eating?”

I smiled and looked at my wife again who simply returned the smile and shook her head with her nose pointed to the sky. “I am on a diet,” I said.

“Dana, What is this about a diet?”

“Girl, we started yesterday,” Dana explained. “After all these kids it is time to do some cleansing! Chase agreed to do it with me.” She winked at me.

“Dana, you don’t need to loose any weight,” Meagan offered with her husband Dequan shaking his head in full agreement. “Chase is already 20 pounds away from bones, and you are still nursing a baby. You need all the calories you can get.”

It went back and forth likes this for a while with friends trying to convince Dana to postpone the diet. I agreed with them, but I made the agreement. Dana had put on a few pounds, but it looked good on her. I have never been overweight. I was still athletic and limber from my college days–and I intend to stay this way.

I saw the donut waved in front of my face and I almost took a bite. It had only been one day, and I was struggling! But it was donuts! Oh, cruel world. I looked at my wife again, and she finally submitted. She said I could have one donut.

I picked it up with savor, a huge powdered donut. I knew that it was full of calories and bursting with flavor. I fixed my mouth for the first bite, and a monster ripped passed and snatched the donut from my grasp! It was a three-year-old. It was my three-year-old.

“No donut Daddy. You and Mommy are on a vegan diet,” she said as she stuffed the donut in her mouth and smiled as if I were not about to attack her!

“Well, Deyshae has decided that you cain’t have it,” Sonia laughed out.

I was upset. We brought the two youngest kids with us and left the older two at home with Dana’s mother and father. I wished that Deyshae would just disappear right then. Boy, I wanted to pull the parent card, but she looked so cute with all the powder on her face. I just laughed and reached for another donut.

I looked at my wife and changed my mind. “Dana, you guys, I think I am going to stick with my diet. ”

I picked Deyshae up and cuddled her for a moment as she squirmed to get away. I sat in a chair for a moment with my eyes closed. Visions of donuts started dancing in my head. Before I knew it, I was fantasizing about donuts!

Yum yum, yum yum eat them on a bed!

“I am going for a walk to kill the temptations” I blurted out in agonizing volume to drown out the jingly in my head as everyone gazed at me a little shocked. They all started laughing.

“Uh uhn. let me see yo wallet,” Sonia screamed. “You know you gon go to the store and buy a candy bar–talking about you gon walk off the temptation.”

“I promise, I won’t do that,” I said telling it more to my wife than Sonia. “I just need to clear my head and get V8.”

“You want me to go with you,” Trevor said poking at his wife, Pam. “You shouldn’t be out there alone.”

“I’m fine,” I retorted. “I will be back, you guys–shortly.”

“Okay babe, don’t get lost,” Dana waved me out.

The Truth About Online Business Systems

Greetings reader. You may have been touched by the Online Business Systems machine if this article is of importance to you. I will in a brief fashion discuss with you the viability of Online Business Systems money making machine!

First off, Online Business Systems from Herbalife is not a scam. Herbalife is a true company with true products. The Online Business Systems itself, however, may discourage many people from going that route for income after reading this article.

If you are looking for a job and are tight on money, avoid Online Business Systems like the plague! There is nothing there for you and it will not benefit you to participate in the company in the short-run. In the long-run, there may be a possibility, but unless you have some long-run money, be warned.

This program is not meant for people who are jobless and have financial problems. The sad thing about it is that the Online Business Systems preys on the jobless or underemployed for funding.

  • If you do not have a job, do not order any information packet from Online Business Systems of Herbalife.
  • If you do not make a substantial income, do not order or sign up for Online Business Systems of Herbalife(the ‘H’ in Herbalife is not silent by the way).

I am a victim, I mean Herbalife participant.

I love the company and its products. I have and still use them and they work! I like the business set-up, the one that involves having disposable money to use to get started with it.

I have estimated that $10,000 is the amount of money you want to have to get started and be successful. Anything less and you risk failure. The reason is that you want to have room for business losses. Also, by disposable income I mean you won’t miss it if it all goes up in smoke.

Target Audience of Online Business Systems

It is geared to swindling the unsuspecting and desperate person out of hard earned money so that we can make pennies on the dime. Sadly it is true.

No person who has 10 grand just lying around generally seeks out home-based jobs to work unless he sees a future need to develop a network so that he can form a multi-level business. And then, he would have to find others who want to use $10,000 to start a business relationship with Herbalife so that he can grow his business

  • It is not a pyramid scheme because Herbalife sells good quality products being all around the world.

Wealthy people ask questions though, which is why they are wealthy. Wealthy people do not spend money on pleasures as much as we would think. They are wealthy because they know how to save and invest money.

There is a new generation of rich people who make so much money that it does not matter how they spend, they will be rich. Most are not in that category.

  • Poor people don’t know which questions to ask, and therefore make uninformed decisions.

Online Business Systems banks on the hope that the participant will not read the print. The written program does not try to deceive people, but the agents themselves do.

There is an unwritten code that Online Business Systems agents use so that the ethical value of the program is not put into question. The program recruitment is designed to give you as little information as possible building you up step-by-step, which is good.

It is bad when you are told as a last step, after you have invested thousands of dollars that you needed at least 10 grand to really get it going and about six months to a year of time!

  • The fact that Glenn Beck endorsed this program was the only reason I used it.

Virtually they want to trick you into being successful.

Any time any person offers you an online business opportunity, whether it is Herbalife or any other company, know that you are going to come out of your pocket possibly up to 10 grand before you see money flow.

Also, if it works so well, why does the person training new agents have to “mentor” so many people to do it? Some of these men and women have thousands of people working on their “teams” and earning money for them.

The program works, but at whose expense?

It works! The program works, but instead of explaining the business principles to you, they hand hold you along the way and give you bits and portions at a time until you have it all. Once you have all the information, like I do, it is up to you to decide how to keep going with it.

  • It is a brilliant strategy, but it backfires for many people also. The ONLINE BUSINESS does not advertise those stories of course.

I know that it can work, because I have participated in the program until I ran out of finances to invest and my conscience started to bother me about taking money from old women and men who are looking for ways to supplement or replace their retirements.

I had to stop actively seeking to grow my network of agents after spending about two hours on the phone with one of my network members crying about her financial shortfall. She spent more money than I did to get started, but it was literally her life savings. She used it up and had no more money to spend–she only had about seven grand for savings!

During my first contact with a Online Business Systems representative I did not learn this important lesson:

Unless you have $10, 000 of disposable income, you will fail!

The person who trained me did not tell me this from the beginning or I would not have signed up. I initiated many people to the program not telling this important aspect of the business to them.

Start up Costs

I did not learn personally about the 10 grand getting started thing until about $4,000 of irreplaceable family funds were spent and reading the print in my training manual. It wasn’t even fine print. It was regular print, but as I was trained, my trainier distorted the meaning–leading the reader, me, to think that the money from the sales and sign-ups would create continual cash flow–and it can after about six months of constant spending to a year!

It specifically states in the manual that we must be able to spare the money. My trainer conveniently skipped over that part. She told me repeatedly that I will make my money back starting the first month.

I spent $29.95 for the info packet. I then spent $350 for The Online Program. I then spent $2500 for products. I then spent $3000 for leads. By the time several months had passed, I had spent over $5000, and had exhausted my funds. I was spending about $40 a month to maintain my Online Business website.

  • I did make the $29.95 back and the $350 with my first team member, but I had to invest it right back into the business, which I really could not afford to do–no disposable income!!!!!!!

I told my trainer this, and asked her what to do. She responded “I told you it takes time for you to get a return. You knew that going in.”

I was shocked and hurt that she would say that, but she was right. She hinted at it the entire time just like I did with my group of people under me.

I called all of my network members that day and told them how the program really works. Only one couple could afford to continue and be successful at it because they had the disposable income. Everyone else cried because they knew they were out of luck.

You must spend money to make money. If you don’t have any money to begin with then, you are out of luck. I did not have money to begin with. I used some of my school money thinking that I would replace it tenfold. My wife said she would supported me, but did not like the idea. I should have listened.

Truth, the sobering and God’s honest truth!

There are no good counselors who can teach you how to make money online quickly and easy that are legally and ethically sound. There is no program to get rich qucik or work less hours and still be successful and ethical.

To be successful at the Online Business System, I promise you will work by the sweat of your brow, forever! You will either be team-building or doing speeches to maintain–like the ultra successful do. To make money, you will work to earn it unless you scam it out of people. And guess what, even the scam requires a good deal of work itself.

You will take advantage of people and scheme to gain supporters. You will sell you soul before you finish with this. I am of the opinion that no honest person can think that taking advantage of people’s desperation will bring good karma. It has not done so for me anyway.

Even the Devil has to work to gain souls! He doesn’t have it easy either!

The Truth About…?

  • The Truth about Barack H. Obama
The president is not the villain that many would tout him to be. Did you ever think that he really believes what he is doing is good for America?
  • The Truth about Same Gender – Marriage
Many pundits of same gender marriage cite exceptions to the historical male/female relationships to justify homosexual relationships. The fact that there are exceptions to normal marriage in the past does not take away the fact that homosexual marria
  • The Truth about Being Black in America
The fact that African Americans are called African at all is an indication of the limited explanation of this group’s history. The nationalities of Black American ancestors are a mystery for the great majority of the group. Slavery stripped this grou
  • The Truth about Hell: Avoid it!
Pitch forks and burning physical lakes are the imagination of men, not the word of God. God has declared that no man knows the horror of hell save those who are assigned to it because God has not revealed the end thereof. Hell is worse than anything
  • The Truth about Heaven: It is REAL!
The righteous will have the ability to–through faith in the Lord Jesus–know more of the mysteries of God in Heaven if we sought to know them in this life also.

Republican National Convention Reflections 2012

Marco Rubio

Mitt Romney, hopefully will be announced as the next president for many reasons, but I will share a few that are important for the average American like me.

I took the time to listen to the speeches at the Republican National Convention and found myself enthralled by what was said. I expected firstly a trite few boring stretches of how poorly the nation is doing now–worse than it was four years ago. I was wrong.

Senator Marco Rubio related to me. He spoke about his immigrant parentage from Cuba and their struggle to provide a better future for him and his siblings. I am not descendant of immigrants but slaves. I still identified how my ancestors strove to make a better nation for me.

As a public administrator graduate student, I listened to him follow all the rules of speech-giving with perfection. He knew the right ques to keep me interested and avoid looking bad. His message however that American is great and we can rise above the difficulties in our present time, and we do not have to blame others for our plight, but encourage our situation by working for a better one rang in my soul. It is true.

President Obama has not taken responsibility for the nation. He still speaks of what he was given four years ago. I want the change that he promised and Mitt Romney seems to be that change.

Ann Romney was refreshing in her sweetness as she stood and proclaimed to the world that her husband will not fail us and will bring us to success if we choose him to lead America into the future. I saw the conviction in her eyes and there seemed to be no posturing there. she did not have eloquent speech that flowed. She did not look like she studied how to capture an audience. She looked like the happiest woman in the world who loves her husband. She looked like she has complete trust and faith in his ability because she has lived through it for the last 42 years of her life. She makes me want to trust him too. Her speech makes me want to choose Mitt Romney.

I listened to his speech and I was immediately taken by his ticks–the movements he makes when he speaks, how many times he blinks his eyes and how well he followed the speech machine. He did it all well. I even noticed one mistake that he made toward the end of his speech that I know will be broadcast somewhere–though I will not bring it to the public.

Mitt Romney‘s father was an immigrant to the States and made it from a poor man to a governor of Michigan without a college degree. He made life better for his family. He was a Mexican American who produced a son that can change this nation.

Mitt Romney is not as graceful with a speech as President Obama is. He gave me solutions in Five steps. He told me his promise to me is to help my family. He says that America is great and restored my confidence in my nation opposed to the President who makes me feel as though I should be embarrassed of my nation.

Five Steps to change from the failures of the last four years:

1, By 2020 We will be Energy independent

2, Increase skills and Jobs Training

3, Forging Trade agreements and impsoing consequences

4. Will cut the deficit and put America on TRACK to a balanced budget

5, Will reduce taxes, clarify rules and regulations and repealing and replacing Obama Care.

He also said that he will not raise taxes on the middle class. I am sold!.
